Lía V. Vergara Peña is a Graduate Research Assistant at the School of Environmental, Civil, Agriculture, and Mechanical Engineering. She holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad del Norte, and a Specialization in Hydraulic Resource Utilization from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Lía’s experience spans over 7 years working in consulting companies in Colombia, with an emphasis on water resources management. Her specialty in the field focuses on hydraulic, hydrologic, and water quality modeling to propose and design integrated engineering solutions that meet the project scope. Lía’s aim for her future is to continue modeling water systems to estimate flood risk, including the influence of climate change, and propose solutions to reduce the vulnerability of communities and natural systems. In her daily life, she enjoys hiking, watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, and traveling. Also, she is passionate about volunteer work, and as a former artist, Lía loves visiting museums and being delighted by any expression of art.
