Graduate Student Marco Garcia is one of the Fall 2024 Finalists at the 3MT® Competition. Marco shared his work “A Multi-Model Approach to Evaluate Hybrid Coastal Features: A Resilience-Based Assessment” in the first round of presentations and was selected as one of the 10 finalists. Finals will be held on Thursday, November 14 at Morton Theatre.
Marco shared some thoughts about the process of preparing for the final competition:
“The most valuable takeaway is learning how to communicate my research to a general audience in simple words and without technical language. Additionally, the same concept had to be reflected on a single slide, which was a demanding yet fulfilling experience.”
UGA’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition is a professional and highly engaging international research communication competition that challenges graduate students to explain their research to non-specialist audiences in the space of just three minutes. The winner takes home $1,000 and can represent UGA at the regional 3MT® competition.
